Dear Parents and Carers
OFSTED
I am delighted to inform you that our two-day Ofsted section 8 inspection on the 18th October 2022 to the 19th October 2022 report has now been released. The purpose of a section 8 inspection is to gauge whether a school continues to be ‘good’ as indicated in our previous report in 2016, or to ascertain whether there is evidence to suggest a school is above or below its original grading.
It gives me great pleasure to share that Her Majesty’s Inspector and team believed there is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged Outstanding if a section 5 inspection were to be conducted now. Therefore, Culverhill School will receive a section 5 inspection; usually this is within one to two years of the date of the section 8 inspection.
I am delighted that the hard work undertaken by the Culverhill School staff and Trust community has been recognised, including the comments regarding our work on curriculum, reading, pupils mental health, high standards and expectations, the effective systems in place, the reflective and driven nature of leaders/governors, commitment of the pupils and the impact of the quality of education delivered by our expert teaching staff.
The report itself is very detailed and highlights the many elements of effective provision at Culverhill. Please take the time to read the inspection report in full as it evidences an academy that is not only good, but one that continuously strives to improve and excel. The report is now available to read (see attachment below)
I am incredibly proud of my staff and our wonderful pupils. I also wanted to extend my personal thanks to all the families connected to Culverhill. Without your support and trust we could not do the jobs we do.
Warmest regards
Chris Walker
Headteacher

Coffee Mornings at Culverhill School
Each term we hold a fundraising coffee morning at school. This provides pupils with ‘real life’ opportunities to develop their social communication skills, practical numeracy and everyday living skills.
Pupils make cakes in their cookery lessons and take turns to serve hot drinks and cakes at the sale, developing their functional numeracy skills.
Whilst we are usually a cash free school we use cash for the coffee mornings – please bring plenty of small change as we do not have a float. Prices range from 10p to £1:00.
Coffee mornings run from 10:30 – 11:30am
The dates for 2022-23 are:
Friday 23rd September Friday 18th November
Friday 20th January Friday 24th March
Friday 19th May Friday 23rd June
We look forward to seeing you at these events!
Kind regards
Sarah Holt, Deputy Headteacher
