Head Teacher Update

17th April 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

I do hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well.

As we come to the end of the Easter holiday period I wanted to update you on the latest government guidance regarding closure of schools during the Coronavirus pandemic. As I am sure you are aware, the government made the decision yesterday to extend the lockdown for at least another three weeks. School closure guidance and advice remains the same and therefore schools are required to open only to those children of critical workers and the most vulnerable children where families have no alternative childcare arrangements. The government are still advising that children should remain at home. The link below gives further information:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers

The DFE also has a helpline, details of which are below:

Department for Education coronavirus helpline

The Department for Education coronavirus helpline is available to answer questions about COVID-19 relating to education and children’s social care. Staff, parents and young people can contact this helpline as follows:

Phone: 0800 046 8687
Opening hours:

8am to 6pm – Monday to Friday

10am to 4pm – Saturday and Sunday

Culverhill staff have been working hard throughout the Easter break to ensure that we can safely open for reduced provision as and when the need arises. Teaching staff will be continuing to provide activities on SeeSaw as of Monday 20th April so please continue to contact your child’s class teacher either on SeeSaw or by email if you have any questions or feedback on your child’s engagement with school activities. We would also like to emphasise that we are not expecting you to home school your child with purely curriculum work. Life-skills, play and home-based activities are just as important to their learning and development. Mr Walker posted some guidance for you before the Easter break and these continue to support you and your child. There are also a number of resources available on our website that you can use with your child to support their understanding of COVID-19.

If you have any other questions, queries or concerns please email the school on office@culverhillschool.org.uk  This email address is monitored daily and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the fantastic support and encouragement you are giving your children at the moment during this crisis. Please let them know that we are thinking of them every day and are looking forward to seeing them all when it is 100% safe to do so.

We will continue to update you as new information arises and until then please take good care and keep safe and well.

Very best wishes for now,

Sue Hewitt
