Culverhill is a special school that provides a high quality and holistic education for 135 pupils with complex learning difficulties aged 7-16 in South Glos. We also have pupils placed here by Bristol, Glos and Wilts local authorities.
Class sizes are a maximum of 12 pupils per class with a Teacher and two Teaching Assistants.
Our pupils all have Education, Health and Care Plans which reflect moderate and complex learning difficulties plus a range of additional needs including Speech, Language and Communication, Autism, Physical Difficulties and Social Emotional and Mental Health. Many of our pupils have a combination of these thus experiencing multiple barriers to their learning.
Admissions to Culverhill are via South Glos 0-25 panel who meet weekly to look at a child’s EHCP review documentation and recommend where their needs might be best met. Prospective parents/carers should liaise with their child’s current school regarding the timing of review meetings. Culverhill is currently oversubscribed so requests for placements need to be made via the local authority.
