Topic - Humanities

At Culverhill School we engage pupils into learning and encourage them to have an inquisitive mind through a range of exciting topics linked to their interests. These promote pupils to learn about the world around them in a creative way. Each of the topics link clearly to History or Geography and sometimes both. They often also have cross curricular links to other subjects and the topic is embedded within other subjects, particularly English. Pupils often go on trips linked to these topics to gain real life experiences and to learn in a multi-sensory approach. Each topic usually begins with a WOW start to engage the pupils into the topic using drama, real life objects, games, video clips etc. Within these topics a range of skills are taught linked to History and Geography and these are developed on as the pupils move through the year groups and visit new topics.
