Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Maternity Cover

Required for maternity cover from 18th January 2019 an enthusiastic and creative teaching assistant who will enjoy supporting pupils with complex learning difficulties and communication and interaction difficulties. Pupils at Culverhill enjoy practical hands on learning and need sensitive support to help them become as independent as possible.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with children and young people and can form effective relationships with them.
  • Is committed to educating the ‘whole child’ to improve their outcomes and life chances.
  • Has excellent communication skills and is able to build effective and positive relationships because of this.
  • Has good emotional resilience and is able to demonstrate

respect, compassion and understanding towards others.

  • Can motivate and inspire all pupils to learn.
  • Is able to form excellent working relationships with parents and carers and supports families effectively.
  • Is flexible, adaptable and organised and is willing to work with pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities
  • Is calm and can maintain a sense of humour under pressure and can be flexible enough to adapt as situations change.
  • Celebrates diversity and the unique abilities of everyone
  • Is competent and enthusiastic about the use and development of ICT.
  • Is an excellent team player who can work effectively with others to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
  • Has experience and expertise in meeting the needs of pupils with ASD and social communication difficulties.
  • Is proactive about their own professional development and embrace opportunities to acquire new learning and practice unfamiliar skills
  • Is preferably NVQ3 qualified or equivalent
